Now, I am one of those people who because of the jobs I did, I had to be up early most every day. Plus, I had 3 kids to "manage" so to speak. And now, because "our little princess" Munch, who used to get me up every day at 4, I just get up around 4ish every day. Today tho, I made it all the way to 4:45 am. Oh my goodness, that sure feels nice. LOL
Now, I just don't swill coffee and wonder about how I am going to get thru the day. I get my coffee, feed the 2 fur kids, go check e-mails, then choose ether to go and crochet on things I have been wanting to try. Or, I go and play World of Warcraft. You got to figure that I can't really start anything with banging and the like, Hubby is still sleeping. Most days I go and curl up on the couch, pick up my hook and yarn and off I go. It's quiet. I know the phone isn't going to ring or anyone is going to come to the door. So for a couple of hours I crochet away in bliss.
It's raining here today. The grapevine is shut down due to snow and icy roads up that pass. Freeways are a mess. Sure glad I don't have to go out in it. LOL this storm is cold tho. Hey, when we are in the 50's for a high, that's cold for us. And we have wind also.
So, I have been finishing up these few things so I can "move on" to more I want to do. Of course classes begin for me on Monday evening. I start with Cartooning Mon and Wed evenings. I love that class. Only a pencil and whatever paper you can find is all that is required.
Wednesday morning and afternoon I will be in a Photoshop CS3 class. that one goes from 10 am to 5 pm. That should be fun and I get to learn the new CS4 too.
Hubby will be doing a photography class. I figure that will be the best way for him to learn what he needs to learn about using a camera.
I also crochet using fabric strips. Here is an easter basket I did. I got into the fabric crochet with all those colorful sheets my kids had. Just couldn't see tossing them. Thru the years I have added gingham fabric to the sheet fabric. Did you know you can find king size sheets at the thrift stores for practically nothing. I'll did up a few photos of the area rugs I have crocheted with fabric. My size "Q" hook that you see is the most difficult to find. I got mine 20 plus years ago from Annie's attic. Annie's doesn't carry them anymore. :(
Well, got to run, Today is sheets day. Tomorrow I do the regular laundry. LOL Plus, hubby will begin his "clean out" starting on Sunday. He is going for another colonosphy on Tues morning. Large polyp to check. So he has to do 2 days of clean out. Then on Tuesday, they are going to put him a bit deeper under anesthesia to check that large polyp. Now you know why I have been up early and crocheting like a fiend-LOL
Sitting at the patio table this morning, I found myself totally immersed in the approaching storm. Within my spirit exhaled. I felt at peace. Now, I am not usually one for running off at the mouth. I enjoy sharing bits and pieces of myself. But, every once in awhile one does need to just talk or write in the case here.
Yesterday, hubby went in to get checked out for dentures. Both him and I were not exactly great about going to dentists. A lot of life, so to speak, got in the way. Children were the priorities, then a parent. Add to that scratching out a living. But, we are almost finished with the infrastructures of ourselves.
While in the waiting room, I began a new pattern. The rabbit spoke to me, so I am off with a skein of white. One thing tho, I went down a few sizes in the hook. This purse, if I finish it, would be more cell phone & change purse size. So far I have done the base purse, flap, and front legs. Hubby goes in next Tuesday for a colonsphy, so hopefully I will ether be finishing it up while waiting, or on to another project.
Next Friday, hubby goes back to the dentist for a deep cleaning before preparing for his back teeth to be removed. Don't worry, I won't go into graphic detail. Just imagine and you'll get it. But, of course hubby worries. That is the fun part. Hubby also has what is called Innocent tremor. His hands shake. No, not Parkinson's, his is another brain nerve disease. nothing really can be done. He is on meds to control the shaking, but down the road, he will be drinking his coffee with a straw. Ah, remember I said I was a bit blunt. Him and I are comfortable enough with it that we can just tell it like it is.
"Who am I" seems to becoming the latest trend coming up. Me? Still kind of figuring that one out. I know I am female, daughter, wife, mother, grandmother. I'm half Lithuanian, half Danish. Good peasant stock. I have done and seen more than most. I tell it like I perceive it. I have strong opinions. And I am sure I will add to the list as time goes on. But, that is what a person is. What a person becomes is something else.
Well, hubby has gotten up, time for another cup of coffee, sitting out at the patio table, watching the storm come in. Oh, did I tell you I get up around 4-5 am? Yes, I would love to sleep in, someday. But till then, I'll enjoy the peace of the quiet.
During "trying" times in my life, I will ether crochet or bead like a fiend. Sure is cheaper than going to a shrink. And I love to read the comments about what you think about my work? Do you think it's good enough to sell? How can I improve my presentations when I do an art-walk or craft show? What would rope you in to see and purchase.

I am just finishing sewing on the handles, so I will post the photo of the finished purse tomorrow!!
Had the plummer in yesterday. Furnace check and to cap off the gas line that went into the fireplace. (Fireplace gas line was really out of code) Tho we haven't used the fireplace in forever, I wanted to get rid of those fake logs and put candles inside instead. Now I can!!!!
And on top of everything, the diswasher died. Poor thing, it was only 18 years old. I can't imagine why it died. Chris said it was the pump, and that a new dishwasher would be cheaper in the long run. Hummmm, I get to go looking at the new ones. The drawer dishwashers are intresting. I know they are a bit pricey, but hey, if a new one lasts as long as the old one-such a deal huh? LOL Chris also let us know the place him and his dad, Gary, go to get appliances when on a job. I love my plummers!! They are great. Hey, a furnace check, capping off a gas line, and checking the old dishwasher-$95. Peace of mind-priceless.
We had rain today. My poor kitties had to stay in. Bandit, the old cat just wanted to be fed all day. Munch napped on her bed till the sun came out in the afternoon. Whe the sun came out, Munch dashed out to discover the squirrel was here and on the ground. Munch charged the squirrel, and the squirrel charged back. Munch being the "chicken" she is ran back into the house and stayed on her bed for the rest of the day. (Maybe I should take away Munch's and the squirrel's credit cards!! Then they couldn't charge anymore.) Yes, I have a cat that is afraid of a squirrel!! Bandit didn't care as he was just in a food coma!!
In the photo above I did show the parts before I put it togther. I had first done 30 of those "corkscrew fringe" goodies. When sewing them on, I had to make 15 more!! I also left the strands of yarn to add just a bit more to it!!
Mrs. Claus would look great using this purse, don't you think?
Not a good weekend for Mother. She was just tired since Fri. She doens't seem very hungry ether. Tho, I do try tempt her with all kinds of things. She does go for the sweets a bit more. Today I made "beans and rice". We had a wonderful ham I got at Sam's club, and of course when it got down a bit, I made a big pot of beans and rice. she ate maybe half a bowl, so that made me feel a bit better. I can get at least 2 juices and a water down her during the day too. Plus coffee and if it's chilly midmorning a cup of hot chocolate. With the meds she has to take in the morning, a small piece of coffee cake or half a cup of oatmeal. That's about it for the day tho. Her hands have been really shaky for the past week. Not sure whats going on and will have to ask the nurse on Tuesday. Hopefully, I will get her in the bath tomorrow afternoon. Her birthday is the 16th. I will find a great cake and ice cream!!!!!!!!! Mother will be 79.
Any suggestions?????????
Definition of Mobius Strip:
A continuous one-sided surface that can be formed from a rectangular strip by rotating one end 180° and attaching it to the other end.
Since I am a daughter, I don't get paid, or get health insurance, or days off. Did you know that the wonderful people who do live-in caregiving get paid fairly well? I wish there was somewhere I could go to get "paid" for all I do for mom! Now that would be cool. Imagine how much I am saving medicare?
Yes, I am "venting" a bit. some days I just get so tired of empting the commode pan, nebulizer treatments, wheeling mom from room to room and the rest in general. I guess it just comes down to I miss having my own life every so often. Sorry.
But, hey, if you would like to try doing this tapestry crochet go to http://www.tapestrycrochet.com/ as Carol Ventura has some free patterns for you to try! And PLEASE let me know if you do make something. I would just love to see it!!! I use wool yarn, a different size hook that the pattern calls for. I just love to warp the rules every so often!!!!
I am doing another Halloween treat bag right now and hopefully will have it finished on Sun. I have a "dentist" appointment tomorrow-a crown fitting, so I won't be doing any crocheting.
Sunday morning I will do my housework since I couldn't do it on Sat morning. Hummmm, Monday the nurse is coming. Tuesday, the aid to bathe mom. Wednesday!!!!!, I would love to go see this sweater I saw in the "Coldwater Creek" catalog as we have a store here. Thursday-bath day again. Fri-Ah Friday-"Gem show". I am going. I need the time off, I want to dig my hands into all the wonderful, different kinds of beads and just suck up the energy to refresh my soul. I am going to try to get back to my first love-beading in the next few weeks-Cross your fingers I can!!!!
Well, good night-tomorrow is another day, just like this one, except my mouth will be a bit sore.
