Last Wednesday, when I went to see my Therapist, I had also taken a small crocheted Stocking to the gentleman who owns the office. They share the space to save on rent. Anyway, Mr. Reno, Rex, brought out to me an 8 X12 glossy copy of a painting that has John Wayne, Pilar Wayne, "Big Red" (a big time bookie, I was told), Rex Reno, Rod Sterling and towards the back at the bar is Gary Cooper. Big Red had wanted a painting of him playing poker with the duke and his buddies. Pilar did the painting when she lived down towards back bay. Big Red asked Pilar how much and she said $5000. Big Red pulled out his money clip and peeled off the $5000. 

So, for all you Big Time "Duke" fans enjoy. When I was a lot younger I had met John Wayne over at the Sav-on Drugs at Westcliff. WOW he was something. I also remember his boat, the "Wild Goose" down here in the Newport Channel.  

Memories are fun and so are people one meets.

After Thanksgiving, hubby was saying that one of his sister's girls was interested in crochet. Well, he couldn't remember which one. So, what I did for him was make 4 of these Mary Jane stockings. I had the cutest little "lips" buttons for the strap. I made these a tad smaller, because of time thingies. The dollar bill at the top kind of gives the idea of scale. Anyway, I gave them to hubby and told him to go ahead and mail these off to his sister and her 3 grown daughters. Hubby also has a "Mr. Bill" keychain for his sister too. 

But, even tho hubby's family and myself have not gotten along for all these decades, Christmas is still Christmas. I figured it was a nice gift to give my wonderful husband. . .
